Gamma-ray multiplicity moments from deeply inelastic collisions of /sup 8/6Kr and /sup 1/44Sm

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
First, second, and third moments of gamma-ray multiplicity distributions from deeply inelastic collisions have been measured for the system /sup 8/6Kr on /sup 1/44Sm at 490-MeV Kr energy. The average gamma-ray multiplicities are approx. = 21, independent of reaction angle and fragment charge. The multiplicity distributions are broad, with standard deviations of ..nu.. approx. = 10, and they have a negative skewness.
