Authority should be extended on liability protection for a nuclear accident

The Price-Anderson Act, which sets the basic insurance framework for the nuclear industry, expires August 1, 1987. The Congressional General Accounting Office believes that the act's indemnity authority should be extended. It also believes that the liability protection provided is too low to provide reasonable compensation for the worst nuclear plant accident.
