Polarized Raman spectra of the single crystals of the anthracene - 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene complex and the corresponding complex with deuterium-substituted anthracene were measured in the lattice vibrational region and between 88 K and room temperature. Eleven lattice bands were observed among the 12 bands expected by the symmetry consideration, and each band was assigned to the librational or translational lattice vibrations. This is the first report that gives substantial assignments to the translational lattice vibrations in molecular complexes. Brief discussion is given on the problem of the coupling between the vibrations on the donor and acceptor sublattices.
