Public health assessment for MW Manufacturing, Valley Township, Montour County, Pennsylvania, Region 3. Cerclis No. PAD980691372. Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6812153
The MW Manufacturing National Priorities List (NPL) site lies along Washingtonville Road, two miles north of Danville Borough, in Montour County, Pennsylvania. Site soils, groundwater, surface water, and sediment were found to be contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), phthalate esters, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and lead. Off-site residential and commercial wells are contaminated with VOCs, PCBs, bis-(2-ethylhexyl)-phthalate, and lead. Past exposures to site contaminants present in drinking water posed a public health hazard. Currently, the site does not pose an apparent public health hazard because exposures to site contaminants have been eliminated or reduced to levels below public health concern. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry's (ATSDR) Health Activities Recommendation Panel (HARP) determined that although exposure to on-site workers has probably occurred in the past and may be occurring, this site is not being considered for follow-up health activities at this time because the levels and duration of exposure cannot be characterized.
