Synthesis of organic silthianes containing functional groups at the silicon atom introduced by trans-silylation

This paper studies the synthetic scope of silthiane compounds containing alkyl and phenyl substituents in order to prepare organic linear and cyclic silthianes with functional groups at the silicon atom. These include hydride, vinyl, ethynyl, aryl, chloromethyl, and alkoxl groups. As a result of the vigorous conditions for this reaction, organic silthianes with hydride and vinyl groups are obtained in low yield or are not obtained at all by this method. These products may be prepared by the reaction of the corresponding chlorosilanes with sodium hydrosulfide.
