Liquefied natural gas

Book ·
OSTI ID:6810546
In the light of the time frame and lifting of limitations on imports of liquified natural gas (LNG) President Carter's energy program, LNG as a source of energy supply for the world (not just the U.S.) is reviewed. The total world reserves of LNG are estimated at about 2200 trillion ft/sup 3/. Trade agreements for shipment of LNG to the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan are discussed, and imports to these areas are tabulated for comparison of exports by the supplier countries. It is projected that by 1980, LNG trade will reach the equivalent of 5.0 billion ft/sup 3//day. Factors influencing the pricing of this LNG are discussed. Hightlights of U.S. petroleum supply and demand are discussed briefly and are tabulated. (BLM)
