The LP-Gas Industry Advisory Committee reported to the Federal Energy Administration that consumption of LP-gas and ethane registered strong growth during the last half of the 1960's and continued through the first 2 y of the 1970's, with increases averaging some 8%/y. Strong growth was registered for all the subject products--propane, butane, and ethane. The demand pattern has changed during the past 2 y in that from mid-1973 to mid-1975 total consumption of these products has been nearly static. The total annualized volume has been approximately equal to the 1972 consumption level. In addition, the product mix has changed. Consumption of ethane has steadily increased, offsetting the declines for propane, iso-butane, and normal butane. Demand for the subject products should strengthen during the remainder of 1975. The outlook for 1976 is for increased consumption of all the products and a total volume increase of some 3% over 1975.
