Coated high temperature combustor liner

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6807551
This patent describes a combustor for a gas turbine power plant having a louver panels attached end to end to define a combustion chamber wherein cool air is heated to hot gases. Each of the louver panels has an inner surface being subjected to the hot gases in the combustion chamber and an outer surface being subjected to the cooler air of the power plant. A cooling air film generating means includes a discharge lip formed on the end of each of the louver panels for receiving the cooler air and injecting a film of the cooler air adjacent the inner surface of the louver panels. A ceramic coating is formed on the inner surface of each of the louver panels contiguous with the combustion chamber, each of the louver panels being subjected to axial bending stresses and the largest bending stress occurring at a point intermediate its ends. The coating is dimensioned so that one end is gradually tapering from a thickest portion immediately adjacent the point of the largest axial bending stress of each of the louver panels to an upstream end adjacent the tip where the film of cool air is formed.
