Much of the observational time during the early months of the Hubble Space Telescope's (HST) orbital operation will be devoted to tasks set by the scientific teams responsible for the design of the HST's six instruments; afterwards, proposals for observations will be selected and scheduled by a peer-review process. It is expected that users will give attention to the fine details of interstellar medium flow, the process of star formation, and the characteristics of globular star clusters, white dwarfs, novae, supernovae, stellar black holes, normal and active galaxies, supermassive black holes, and quasars.
