OECD science and technology policy reviews in Hungary and Czechoslovakia

The OECD responded to a request from the Hungarian and Czechoslovakian governments to carry out a science and technology policy review in those two countries. The OECD has traditionally carried out these reviews for its member countries since the founding of the organization in the 1960s. This article describes the evolution of this review process over the last twenty years. Also described are the results of the science and technology policy reviews of Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Several recommendations for improving policy in these countries are included.
