Pseudoscalar-glueball production in psi. --> gamma. X, UPSILON. --> gamma. X, e/sup +/e/sup -/. -->. e/sup +/e/sup -/X, and pp. -->. X

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D; (United States)
Saturation of the observed rate and spectrum of psi..--> gamma..+hadrons by a 2-GeV 0/sup -/ ''glueball'' G, and the use of SU(3) x SU(3) Ward identities (incorporating the U(1) axial anomaly) implies the possibility of a substantial cross section (approx.0.5 nb) for the process ee..-->..eeG. As a consequence, the predominance of KK-bar..pi.., eta(eta')..pi pi.., and/or 4..pi.. final states is expected in both these reactions. A discussion is presented of the role of G production in UPSILON..--> gamma..+hadrons, and in the rise of sigma/sup tot//sub p/p at CERN ISR energies in the range 20<..sqrt..s-bar<50 GeV.
