Electronic water heater thermostat system
An electronic water heater thermostat system is described for controlling the heating of water in a water heater having electrically operable fuel control means. The system comprises temperature sensing means effective to detect the temperature of water in the water heater and generate a corresponding electrical signal indicative of the water temperature, temperature set point means having an output producing a voltage proportional to the desired set point temperature, and differential amplifier means electrically connected to the temperature sensing means and to the temperature set point means and having an output providing a voltage representing the difference between the voltage of the temperature sensing signal and the output voltage of the set point means. A voltage dependent hysteresis means includes comparator means having inputs connected to the output of the differential amplifier means and to the differential voltage means. The comparator means also has an output, and an electrically operable switch means controlling the energization of the fuel control means, the switch means being electrically connected to the output of the comparator means.
