Austin chalk fracturing design utilizing a crosslinked natural polymer as a diverting agent

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6799085
This study discusses a fracturing technique successfully employed in stimulating the Austin Chalk Formation which stretches from Dimmit County to Lee County in S. Texas. Included is a description of the Austin Chalk geology, properties of reservoir fluids, and a brief discussion regarding other fracturing practices. A fracture gradient map shows how the formation fracture gradient varies in areas where extensive hydraulic fracturing has been performed. Production results from various stimulation techniques are compared.
