As in many metropolitan areas around the world, air pollution in Hong Kong is an increasing concern. In this paper the authors present an observational study of a major ozone pollution episode observed on 10 July 1994 in the Hong Kong area. Wind data recorded in the Pearl River Delta region and air quality data measured at several sites in Hong Kong suggest that the observed episode is likely caused by the transport of ozone and/or ozone precursors from the areas northwest of Hong Kong.
