Effective electromagnetic form factor of the neutrino

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)
The conceptual difficulties affecting the definition of the neutrino electromagnetic form factor are briefly reviewed in the context of the standard model. It is then shown that the radiative corrections ..delta../sup (//sup ..nu..//sup ;//sup l//sup )/(q/sup 2/) and ..delta../sup (//sup ..nu..//sup ;//sup h//sup )/(q/sup 2/) relevant to ..nu..-lepton and ..nu..-hadron scattering in the renormalization scheme in which sin/sup 2/theta/sub W/equivalent1-m/sub W//sup 2//m/sub Z//sup 2/, can be separated into two finite and gauge-invariant parts. One part ..delta../sup (//sup ..nu..//sup )/(q/sup 2/) is target independent and the associated function f(q/sup 2/)equivalent-q/sup 2/..delta../sup (//sup ..nu..//sup )/ (q/sup 2/)/(2m/sub W//sup 2/) can be interpreted as an effective electromagnetic form factor of the neutrino in the framework of the low-energy theory derived from the standard model at invariant mass scales <
