Lattice dynamics of calcium and ytterbium using a model-potential approach

A simple form of a model potential has been used to investigate the phonon spectra of calcium and ytterbium. The anomalous dispersion and the anisotropy have been explained by the present model-potential approach. The results obtained show good agreement with the experimental ones.
