Anisotropic spin fluctuations in cubic CeSn/sub 3/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
The low-temperature high-field heat capacity of a CeSn/sub 3/ single crystal was found to develop an anisotropy for H>2.50 T with the magnetic field parallel to the (100) and (110) directions. The magnetic susceptibility of CeSn/sub 3/ below 5 K was also anisotropic with chi/sub 110/>chi/sub 100/ by approx.5% at 1.8 K. For the first time ever an anisotropic quenching of spin fluctuations in any highly enhanced paramagnet has been observed.
