This book presents papers on petroleum geology. Topics considered include the origin of hydrocarbons in carbonate rocks, hydrocarbon geochemistry, the generation and migration of hydrocarbons in the Upper Cretaceous Period, a comparison of carbonate and shale source rocks, the use of thiophenic organosulfur compounds in characterizing crude oils derived from carbonate versus siliciclastic sources, the compaction of modern carbonate sediments, carbonate sedimentary rocks and the origin of heavy crude oils, and the recurrent appearance of source-rock facies in Cretaceous to Eocene carbonate series.
