Characteristics of laser radiation emitted by a pulse-periodic closed-cycle CO/sub 2/ laser

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
A study was made of the characteristics of the laser radiation emitted by a low-pressure pulse-periodic closed-cycle CO/sub 2/ laser having an average output power of 1 kW. It was found experimentally that the duration of the laser pulses could be increased by displacing the resonator axis downstream relative to the discharge axis, with subsonic flow of the gas mixture. A laser pulse duration of 300 ..mu..sec was obtained for a current-pulse duration of 1.5 ..mu..sec.
