The information presented in this catalog was collected from wind turbine manufacturers between April and July 1988 using a standard survey form. Most companies were also contacted by telephone to discuss the details of their submissions. In 1986, a similar survey was conducted and included as an appendix to Wind Energy 1987: Wind Turbine Shipments and Applications. This was the first in a series of annual wind industry market information publications prepared by the Wind Data Center. A large audience exhibited interest in having this comprehensive listing of manufacturers and products as a separate publication. As this young and dynamic industry continues to grow and the market becomes truly worldwide, a product catalog becomes an essential tool for planners and decision makers, prospective customers, and the wind industry membership.
