RESCUE: A PC-based interactive reload design tool

Conference · · Transactions of the American Nuclear Society; (United States)
OSTI ID:6782050
Core reload design methods based on generalized perturbation theory (GPT) have been under development at the University of Lowell for several years. Current emphasis is focused on obtaining improved accuracy relative to first-order GPT, and recently the authors have documented the theoretical framework for a highly accurate and efficient, implicit, high-order GPT scheme. A proto-type personal computer (PC)-based reload design tool called RESCUE (for REload Shuffling Code for Ultimate Efficiency) has also been developed in parallel with the theoretical work. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the general approach to the development of RESCUE, to highlight some of the key features of the code, and to describe briefly some ongoing enhancements to the code.
