Er-doped superfluorescent fiber laser pumped by 1. 48. mu. m laser diode

An Er-doped superfluorescent fiber laser pumped by a 1.48 {mu}m laser diode is reported. Output power of 4 mW is obtained at a 80 mW pump power. Stable spectrum profile of a 2 nm bandwidth (FWHM) is observed at output power above 1 mW. The authors observed degree of polarization, and it is found that more than 99.8% of the light was unpolarized within the limit of experimental error.
