ESRF vacuum system

Conference · · AIP Conf. Proc.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6776019
The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) is a state-of-the-art International Synchrotron Radiation Source to be built in Grenoble. It will meet the needs of the European scientific community for X-rays of high brilliance well into the next century. The heart of the facility will be a 6 GeV electron/positron storage ring with a circumference of about 850 m and a design base pressure of 10/sup -10/ mb. The basic vacuum system is described here together with related developments which are underway.
