A summary is presented of 1971 petroleum data on supply and demand collected from many sources, analyzed by the Office of Oil and Gas, and compiled in ready-reference handbook form. It is divided into six sections: supply and demand; transportation; refining and market demand; crude oil resources; crude oil production; and definition of areas. Discussions are presented in highlight form and by chart of crude oil production, refinery throughputs, imports and exports of crude oil and refined products, and domestic demand. Maps and tables are used to illustrate the international flow of petroleum. Refining yields and market demand of petroleum products are illustrated by country or geographical area in graph and table format. Crude oil reserves and production are depicted on charts.
