India and the NPT

The author describes his views on India's position on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Also discussed are the views of other foreign powers toward the NPT. It is the author's opinion that economic compulsions may act upon India. To this end, India has offered a plan for a nuclear-free world by the beginning of the twenty-first century, as described by the New Delhi Declaration of 1986.
