Radiation Ltd.'s new burner for use in gas-fired water heaters and central heating boilers has a diffuser mounted in the burner's outlet to provide the large number of flame ports necessary to have a specific flame height at a specified thermal rating. The diffuser provides a multiplicity of ports at which the fuel mixture burns, once ignited. Through the diffuser extends a path through which a cooling fluid is circulated. Used in conjunction with the burner to provide the gaseous fuel mixture is a mixer device into which gas is injected so as to provide a gaseous vortex formation within the mixer. Air is drawn into the device and mixed with the gas by the low-pressure region created within the vortex.
