The Statistical Office of the European Communities (EUROSTAT) and the International Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) were the principal sources for updating world data in this issue, awaiting the publication of the United Nations' latest Energy Statistics Yearbook. Prepublication data from this volume, supplied through courtesy of the UN, permitted publishing revised data and 1981 data for the world movement (imports and exports) of natural gas in the First Quarter issue; this issue contains such data for crude oil, coal, and electricity. Domestically, heating values for coal production and consumption were revised by the Department of Energy, which affected all data that reported or included coal production or consumption on a Btu basis. Revisions are thus shown for US total energy production, coal data in Us energy production, and consumption by primary energy type, and US total coal consumption.
