OSTI ID:6769194
The core structure and glide behavior of dislocations are discussed, taking into account the behavior of screw dislocations in BCC metals under the effect of applied stresses other than pure shear, the plasticity of BCC Li-Mg alloy, core structure and glide behavior of screw dislocations in BCC lattices, atomistic studies of dislocations in BCC and BCC-based ordered lattices, and quantum mechanical effects on the motion of dislocations in BCC crystals. Other topics considered are related to the observation of dislocations, plastic deformation and solute effects, and hydrogen effects. Subjects connected with fracture behavior are also investigated, giving attention to the role of microstructure and environment in the fracture of iron-carbon alloys, factors contributing to brittle fracture in BCC metals, the embrittlement of molybdenum, fracture in molybdenum, cyclic deformation and fatigue of BCC crystals, and elastic-plastic fracture of W, Mo, Nb, and Nb-Mo alloy single crystals.
