A process and apparatus for storing tritium, particularly tritium waste from nuclear power plants, is disclosed where the tritium is first oxidized to HTO or T/sub 2/O and is then bound to an adsorbent having molecular sieve properties. The tritium-containing adsorbent is enclosed by a corrosion-resistant metal container hermetic with respect to hydrogen diffusion.
