Substantial changes in overall energy supply stress the necessity to critically assess long-term prospects of the international gas industry development. This paper highlights the results of a research study on the problem ''Gas Industry of Capitalist Countries: Main Trends and Prospects of Development to the Year 2015''. The study is being conducted in the All-Union Gas Industry Scientific Research Institute of Economics, Management and Information.
