A farmhouse in rural New Jersey was retrofitted with thermal insulation and acrylic glazing to reduce the heating load to a level where a solar addition could make a significant contribution to comfort and energy savings. The house was renovated in stages and the performance, costs, and saving achieved with each successive renovation are summarized.
