The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) extends to 8/15/79, the comment period on proposed rules that would govern the operations of tank vessels in Puget Sound. In addition to operating requirements, the proposal would prohibit the operation of tank vessels over 125,000 dwt in the Vessel Traffic Service Area. Since the Draft Environmental Impact Statement was not available throughout the entire comment period, because several comments requested more time to study the proposal, and in order to allow for a full public participation in the rulemaking process, the USCG extends the comment period an additional 45 days from the original deadline of 6/30/79.
