Highlighting the major problems and challenges that lie ahead in US-Japanese energy relations, this book explores energy cooperation, both through joint projects and bilateral planning, that have become an important barometer of the two countries' diplomatic relationship. The contributors discuss in detail the problems posed by energy security differences and uncertain oil markets; US crude oil exports to Japan, nuclear, coal, and solar cooperation; and the prospects for conflict over investment in Siberia and Asia. A separate abstract was prepared for 12 papers selected for the Energy Data Base (EDB) and Energy Abstracts for Policy Analysis (EAPA).
