Prayon process for wet acid purification
Described is a process developed in Belgium which enables the upgrading technical phosphoric acid to feed and food grades. After laboratory and pilot tests, Prayon developed and patented a solvent extraction process using a mixture of di-isopropyl ether and tributyl phosphate as solvent. The purified phosphoric acid obtained complies with the quality requirements of the market and can be used for metal treatments, in the manufacture of pure phosphates, for cattle feed, by the fermentation industry, for beverages, etc. Among the advantages of this process are its simplicity of operation, its low power consumption, and minimal environmental pollution. Extensive technological data are given.
