Title: Effect of polyoxyethylene chain length upon mixed surfactant solutions and temperature dependence on the surface tension

Journal Article · · J. Colloid Interface Sci.; (United States)

The surface tensions of a series of polyethylene glycol-n-dodecyl ethers were measured in the presence of a fixed amount of sodium dodecyl sulfate (6.3 mM) and the effect of the ethylene oxide chain length on the region is discussed on the basis of the experimental results obtained by measuring the surface tensions at various temperatures. The existence of the critical length indicates that below these critical values, no plateau exists in the curves and, accordingly, only the nonionic surfactant excess micelles can be formed in all ranges of the mixed solutions. 12 references.
