Modified Skyrme model with correct QCD scaling behavior on S/sup 3/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)
The modified Skyrme Lagrangian of Gomm et al., which possesses the correct QCD scaling behavior, is studied on an S/sup 3/ Wigner-Seitz cell to mimic the behavior of the soliton in baryonic matter. The bag formation in the glueball-field soliton configuration present in the model for isolated solitons disappears for densities larger than some critical value. It is shown that the disappearance of the bag triggers a delocalization of the chiral soliton field, which thus can be interpreted as a transition to the deconfined phase.
