Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6746044

Dealer prices for iridium, rhodium, and ruthium continued to decline in 1993, while prices for palladium and platinum increased somewhat. The annual average price for rhodium, $1,066 per troy ounce, was the lowest since 1989. PGM were mined in at least 10 countries in 1993; production was dominated by the Republic of South Africa, which accounted for 60% of the world total, and Russia, which accounted for 30%. Platinum and palladium amounted to 49% and 42%, respectively, of all PGM mined, and the other four metals-iridium, osmium, rhodium, and ruthenium-together amounted to 9%.
