Symposium on low-level waste disposal: site suitability requirements. [Shallow land burial]
- comps.
This document is a compilation of 13 papers presented at the Low-Level Waste Symposium on Site Suitability Requirements, the questions and answer periods following individual papers, and the panel discussions at the end of each day. The goal of the symposium was to provide a forum for experts in a variety of fields representing a variety of organizations. These experts were given the opportunity to comment on the reasonableness and appropriateness of those portions of the proposed 10 CFR Part 61 that deal with site suitability. The following questions were to be addressed by the speakers and considered during discussion periods: (1) Can sites be found that meet the proposed criteria. (2) Would such sites be safe and effective sites. (3) Do the criteria eliminate safe and effective sites. (4) Can it be shown that a given site meets the proposed criteria. (5) Should the proposed criteria be revised. (6) Should other criteria on site suitability be added.
