According to Pipe Line Industry's annual survey, pipeline construction is at an all-time high, with over 107,000 miles planned or under way outside the U.S. and Canada, including 33,300 in the U.S.S.R. Major oil, gas, products, and slurry projects planned, proposed, or under construction for each area of the world include Europe/U.S.S.R., 51,505 miles; Mideast/Africa, 24,000; Southern Asia, 8,021; Western Pacific, 7,163; and Latin America, 16,500.
