Toxicity of lead shot to wild black ducks and mallards fed natural foods

This study was designed to determine the toxicity of ingested lead shot to wild black ducks (Anas rubripes) and mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) fed natural foods normally consumed in the fall in New England. The objectives were to document mortality, weight loss, lead levels in the wing bones and liver, and shot retention for ducks dosed with various amounts of lead shot.
