Mechanical and metallurgical characteristics of NeCrFe alloys 718 joints brazed with Ni--13 wt. percent Cr--10 wt. percent P filler metal (LWBR Development Program)

Pin-hinge and lap-joint test specimens of NiCrFe alloy 718 sheet were prepared by brazing with BNi-7 brazing filler metal. Test variables included brazing temperature and time, rebrazing, test temperature, nickel plating, and joint clearance. Results of tensile and fatigue tests, conducted at room temperature and 600/sup 0/F, are presented and discussed. The effects of the test variables on metallographic properties are also discussed.
