Energy: a guide to organizations and information resources in the United States. Second edition

Book ·
OSTI ID:6741453

This book provides in convenient reference form a central source of information on key organizations concerned with energy in the United States and updates an earlier issue (same title) (EAPA 1:808). Chapter 1 covers organizations involved with broad questions of energy policy or more than one of the topics treated in the following chapters. Chapters 2 to 6 describe organizations having to do with sources of energy: oil, natural gas, coal, water power, nuclear fission, and alternate sources. Chapter 7 deals with the electric utility industry. Chapters 8 to 10 cover the interrelated issues of energy conservation, environmental quality, and consumer protection. Each chapter is divided into the following sections: federal agencies (executive departments listed first, then independent agencies), state agencies, local agencies, major producers and distributors of energy, and ''other organizations,'' which include trade, professional, and citizens' groups, research centers, and information clearinghouse. Emphasis is given to organizations that influence, formulate, or administer policies affecting energy production, distribution, and use, or that provide information of interest to the non-specialist. No attempt is made to include groups involved in highly technical aspects of energy research and development.
