Proceedings: Symposium on coal pulverizers

A symposium on coal pulverizers was conducted in Denver, Colorado with over 110 participants in attendance. The objective of the symposium was to foster on international exchange of progress in pulverizer technology. To meet this objective, papers were presented and are included in these proceedings in five technical areas: Recent Developments in Coal Pulverizer Technology; materials for Improved Wear Characteristics in Coal Pulverizing Systems; Coal Pulverizer Fires and Explosions - Detection, Prevention and Control; International Experience; and Utility Perspective. The mix of international and domestic papers were chosen to provide an indication of key differences in pulverizer practices. The symposium working groups suggested strongly that the international utilities should be surveyed to dearly delineate successful approaches in minimizing pulverizer fires and explosions. Individual papers have been entered separately.
