Analysis of origin and development of defects in hydroelectric generator thrust bearings and bearings

From operational experience and tests of hydroelectric generators, it was found that the majority of breakdowns in individual generator components caused by defects in manufacture, installation or operation are on the increase. The origin and development of several basic flaws in hydroelectric generator thrust bearings are examined. The initiation and development of the flaws are presented in the form of flowcharts.
