Superclustering of galaxy clusters

Conference · · Ann. N.Y. Acad. Sci.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6737927
The use of Abell's (1958) complete redshift sample of rich clusters of galaxies with distance class less than or equal to 4 to calculate the spatial correlation function of the rich clusters of galaxies is described. The distance and separations for the clusters of galaxies are estimated. It is observed that the mean density remains constant for small redshifts and then the density falls off due to the limited accuracy of the estimated distance. The calculated density data are compared with random catalog data; the observed density selection function is applied to the development of a supercluster catalog. 18 references.
