Topics treated include the sun, the solar nebula, the planetary system, the nebular origin of the solar system, the structure and evolution of terrestrial planets, and isotopic constraints on planetary evolution. The atmospheres of the terrestrial planets, the principles of planetary volatile history, the tectonics of the terrestrial planets, planetary surface weathering, Jupiter and Saturn, and the origin, evolution, and structure of the giant planets are discussed. Consideration is given to tidal evolution, the generation of magnetic fields in planets, solar and planetary magnetic fields, comets, the origin of the universe and the origin of the solar system, and future planetary exploration.
