Pore pressure: fundamentals, general ramifications and implications for structural geology (revised edition)
The importance of pore pressure and particularly abnormal pore pressure to almost all fields of earth science is discussed. Chapters 1 and 2 are devoted to some of the underlying fundamentals necessary to understand pore pressure, including the effects of temperature, temperature gradients, and temperature anomalies, both transient and stationary, as they apply to pore pressure. Chapters 3 and 4 deal with the general ramifications of abnormal pore pressure, including how it effects rock properties, faulting, and differential compaction. Chapter 5 is composed of a large number of references, and two supplementary chapters are presented dealing with the implications of pore pressure for structural geology and the structural significance of seismic velocity.
