Multiperipheral approach to photon-meson-Pomeron couplings

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D; (United States)
A multiperipheral model is used to calculate the full spin dependence of the photon-rho-Pomeron Regge vertex function. Inclusion of both natural-parity (..omega..) and unnatural-parity (..pi..) intermediate states at the top of the ladder leads to a pattern of approximate helicity conservation. The model also predicts an anomalous refractive term. The predictions of the model for the differential cross section are too small when compared to experiment, however. Photoproduction of ..omega.., phi, and psi are briefly considered as well.
