This paper summarizes and publicizes some of the issues currently confronting power engineering education today. The issues are grouped into four general topics. The first topic has the same name as the title of this paper and includes a variety of general issues. The second topic involves the impact of emerging technologies on power engineering education. The third topic involves university research and its funding. The final topic involves philosophical differences about power engineering education from the viewpoint of industry and the university.
