Rod pressurization sensing apparatus

This patent describes an apparatus for determining pressurization in a nuclear fuel rod and the like by measuring the increase in diameter of the fuel rod occasioned by the internal pressurization of the fuel rod. It comprises: an elongate receiving member having an outer surface and front and rear ends, the front end having an axial opening extending into the member and defining a central axis, and with the axial opening being adapted to receive at lest one end of a fuel rod coaxially therein, first and second axially spaced retaining means positioned within the receiving member, the retaining means having openings therethrough and aligned coaxially with the receiving member axial opening and being dimensioned to receive a fuel rod therethrough.
